Our CLIMALUX pergola is installed (work completed on September 28) and we are sharing our feedback on its quality, which you are welcome to feature on your website if you wish.
Order placed on July 29, 2015, after a phone conversation with you. It was delivered on September 17 by a very courteous and friendly driver who dropped it off 3 meters from the work site despite a rather awkward access — the handling cart is really well suited for this kind of work, so thank you again to that driver.
A friend and I carried out the drainage work (outside the terrace to retain the full width and more of its original 3m) — three 40cm cubic concrete bases with drainage channel outlets and the runoff pipe. While waiting for the bases to set (3 days), I finished unpacking all the components (none were damaged), all very well packaged, and took the opportunity to fit all the seals by sliding them in; likewise, as advised, I purchased and treated the reinforcement profile to slide into the gutter, then fitted the wall rail.
Note for post installation: do not forget to take measurement (D) plus the thickness of the posts.
Once the two gutter sections were assembled and all preparation complete, the hardest part was hoisting it onto the 3 posts and bolting it in — we were 6 people. Once the end crossbars were fitted and bolted, the rest was done with 3 people, without any difficulty. (To cut the cellular sheet I used my angle grinder.)
The LED lighting provided is a real bonus — very pleasant and effective (NOTE: do not fully clip the glazing beads during assembly before fitting the transformers and electrical cables; I also took the opportunity to install an electrical outlet and switch in the central post, coupled with a motion detector fitted above the entrance door).
For those wondering how I integrated the planters (40X40X70), I purchased them in Germany at OBI — for those who know it; I had searched in stores and online but found nothing convincing or at reasonable prices!) The trick is to have cut out the bottom and slid the posts through them before installation, and to secure them, simply raise them. To protect the posts I used geotextile fabric, and the planters are filled with 30cm of gravel and the rest with soil. The downside is that to replace them you either have to cut them or dismantle everything!!!!
To finish off the pergola, I plan to install a removable side panel on the west side to shelter from rain and wind in winter.
- To summarize our experience with CLIKIT:
- Contact: very cordial and good advice
- Packaging: nothing to report
- Delivery: excellent
- Aluminum profile quality: 10/10 (structural treatment very good, though time will tell — but I'm not worried given the overall quality)
- Ease of assembly: 9.5 (you need to be a confident DIYer with good tools)
- Assembly instructions: 9 (pay attention to the dimensions)
- Value for money: found nothing better (other sites offer cheaper pergolas but with incomparable quality and not in my dimensions).
In conclusion, we strongly recommend this site (which we have already done among friends).
